‘Bright stories of fire…made of earth, water and fire’
The nationwide campaign of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture ‘Environment and Culture’ for the year 2012 had been focused on the theme of fire. The title ‘Bright stories of fire’ reflects the creative power of fire that inspired man, giving birth to the art of pottery.
The 38th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities participated in the annual campaign of 2012 with the educational programme ‘Made of earth, water and fire…”. It was designed for children (8-12 years old) and families. The programme consists of three parts: a) a story telling ‘ A handful - like pot’ by Theodosia Pseftea ,b) a thematic tour in the Archaeological museum of Messenia focused on specific clay vessels from the exhibition and c) a creative workshop of pottery under the guidance of Demeter Papadopoulou
The programme was supported by the:

Since 2012 the programme is regularly being held in the Archaeological Museum of Messenia.
