‘Museums in a Changing World. New Challenges, New Inspirations’

The 38th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities joined the celebrations of the ICOM for the International Museum Day 2012:

1. May 18 : ‘Jazz in the Museum…’

Arionas Gyftakis (contrabass) and Panagiotis Kapsampelis (eclectic quitar) performed live in the Archaeological Museum of Messenia. The jazz music concert was co-organized by the 38th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, the Military Museum of Kalamata, the Museum of History and Folk Art and the Municipality of Kalamata.And as the string was rolling out…

2. May 18-20: ‘New Media in the Archaeological Museum of Messenia’

Children and adults were welcomed to discover the AMM’s digital games.

The activity was held by the 38th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities.

3. May 19 : ‘Museum tour organized through the social media’

The activity was held by the 26th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities.

4. May 20 : An educational programme planned for families with children (6-12 years old). Participants were encouraged to discover several selected objects of Evenion’ s journey through a thematic tour in AMM’s exhibition and to be inspired by them creating their own version of Evinion’s journey in a patch-work!
