The Archaeological Museum is housed in the building Messinias the Old Municipal Market at Benakis & Agiou Ioannou at Kalamata.

Open door days:

  • 6 March - Melina Mercouri Memory.

  • 18 April - International Day of Monuments.

  • 18 May - International Museum Day.

  • 5 June - World Environment Day.

  • The last weekend September each year (European Heritage Days).

  • Sundays during the period from November 1 to March 31.

  • The official holidays of the State.

  • The first Sunday of each month except July, August and September (when the first Sunday is holiday, the day of entry defines the second Sunday).

  • 27 September, World Tourism Day.

Persons entitled to reduced entry:

  • Students of Higher Educational Institutions and School of equivalent outside the EU countries, with the demonstration of student identity.

  • Participants in the International Conference with the approval of the Director-General of Antiquities and Heritage.

  • Participants in the trip organized by the Agency Workers' Center.

  • The accompanying educational visits to parents of primary schools.

  • Greek citizens and citizens of other Member States of the EU over 65, by showing identity card or passport.

Persons exempt from payment of entry ticket:

  • The members of the Greek Parliament.

  • Young people aged 19 years, the demonstration of identity card or passport to verify age.

  • The students and students of Higher Education, Technology Education, or equivalent schools of States - Members of the European Union and the School of Tourist Guides, a demonstration of student identity.

  • The serving their military service, to demonstrate their military identity.

  • Officials of the Ministry of Culture, Archaeological Resources Fund and land acquisition (T.A.P.A.), the Credit Management Fund for Archaeological Projects Execution (T.D.P.E.A.E.) and the Organization Greek Culture (O.P.E.P.), the demonstration of their identity.

  • Holders of special membership card of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), the demonstration of this.

  • The guides, by showing the identity of the Ministry of Development.

  • The accompanying educational visits to schools and institutes of A grade, B grade and C school.

  • Journalists, by the exercise of journalistic identity.

  • The members of Companies and Associations of Friends of Museums and Archaeological Sites in Greece, with the demonstration of certified card - State.

  • The official guests of the Greek government, after approval by the Director-General of Antiquities and Heritage.

  • The accompanying blind and people with mobility problems.

  • The card holders free entry.

  • Holders of «Card Culture», issued by the Hellenic Culture Organization through local Citizen Service Centers.
